Aspiring Algorithmic Trader

Hi All,

I am an aspiring algorithmic trader looking for a bit of career guidance.
With a background in applied mathematics, financial maths and algorithms I think I would be well-suited for this career choice. How can I up skill myself to make it in the world of algorithmic trading?

Where should I be looking for work and experience? Other than this forum, where should I be involving myself? I am enthusiastic and eager to learn.
Thanks

Hi Andy,

Thank you for joining the forum!

Please check out the following blog entry that you might find useful (I suggest you read all three parts):

https://quantivity.wordpress.com/2010/01/10/how-to-learn-algorithmic-trading/

Having an experience mentor, as the article suggests, would be invaluable and would streamline your introduction to this interesting industry.

I would strongly encourage you to invest some of your time into the machine learning.

You are more than welcome to join the Algorithmic Trading LinkedIn group that has over 58,000 members.

I am in the process of setting up a similar group on Google+:

Good luck!
