The opportunity

We are currently seeking a Junior Quantitative Researcher to join our Amsterdam trading team to start in February 2013. As a Junior Quantitative Researcher, your career begins with an extensive international in-house training program at our Amsterdam and Chicago offices giving you the opportunity to meet fellow (Junior) Quantitative Researchers and Traders from all IMC offices. You will learn trading, programming and our systems through courses and trading simulations developed and delivered by experienced co-workers from various departments. After two months you will start doing the job yourself! As of day one you will be given a lot of responsibility and take ownership of your development. After this, you will continue to learn from your highly skilled peers.



Are you ready to take on this opportunity?

As a Junior Quantitative Researcher, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Optimization: Use our optimization engine to run simulations, analyze the results and configure our algorithmic trading system accordingly
• Analysis: Evaluate the performance of live trading strategies and take measures to improve them
• Simulation: Improve quality of simulations by making them more realistic
• Research: Work on research projects, present results and actively cooperate in trading and research meetings
• Algorithms: Develop and implement algorithms that drive our trading strategies
• Projects: Work on a project basis in interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications and education requirements:

• MSc. or PhD. in a quantitative or technology-related field of study
• 0-2 years of work experience
• You possess exceptional analytical and mathematical skills
• You have an intermediate or advanced level in an object-oriented programming language
• You are proficient in a mathematical language (Matlab, VBA)
• You possess a natural quantitative and numerical sense
• Knowledge of databases and MySQL is advantageous
• You are highly interested in theories and abstract concepts
• You possess the ability to clearly explain concepts in both a verbal and written way
• You communicate efficiently  with colleagues from different domains
