I am one of students who is going to pick up a topic in algorithmic trading for my PhD studies.

I would like seek for advice from you all that which technique and strategy is worth to move in depth for researching as I hope my research will help and lead me in pursueing my career in high frequency trading or algorithm trading in future.

I have found some information about HFT and feel that HFT seen like is the latest trend in future.

May any helpful experts or seniors here can give me some advice and I really appreciated very much.
